Eye testing

Ophthalmic testing occurs twice a year (April & November) with Professor Bedford in the North East. It takes place at Hurworth Grange, situated at 41 Hurworth Road, at Hurworth Place near Darlington, co. Durham. DL2 2BN. Tel: 01609 8812923. You don't need to book as eye-testing takes place from about 10am-4pm. But it is best to let them know you are attending if you are bringing a fair number of dogs because it does get busy at times

If you have enjoyed watching 'Farpaisean Chon Chaorach', the series covering sheepdog trials in Scotland (aired by BBC Alba on Sky TV 168 or Freesat 110), your views can be expressed at www.mgalba.com/en/yourview/index.html and will help to keep the programmes going each year.

The International Sheepdog News reports on all four Nationals and the International every year, as well as many local trials from all over the world (for details on how to subscribe, click here).

The I.S.D.S. website also has the full results of all National trials, the International and the World Trial (click here).

Each week, sheepdog trials are reported in the Farmers Guardian (http://www.farmersguardian.com/) and the Scottish farmer (http://www.thescottishfarmer.co.uk/).

  • Bill Smith and his crew filmed the 2008 International and World Trial. There are  dvds available from the I.S.D.S. (click here). Individual runs are also available from Bill Smith

  • If you enjoyed the Horse & Country's coverage of the 2007 Nationals and International (which is still being shown on Sky's Horse & Country channel 280), please write to say so, or email (info@horseandcountry.tv). This shows that the programmes were popular and will maybe encourage filming of the Nationals and International in future years.

  • 2007 English National can be seen on-line on the Sky Horse & Country Channel (http://www.horseandcountry.tv/episode/come-bye-2007-episode-6), episode 4 covers the first day, not sure where episode 5 has gone.

  • The Irish, Scottish & Welsh Nationals can be viewed too.  And the 2007 International.
